2016 Maker Faire® Detroit Smartphone App
|
During my internship at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, I was heavily involved in creating and populating the Maker Faire® Detroit smartphone app.
Maker Faire® Detroit (MFD) is a semi-annual two-day celebration of making, inventing and doing. In 2016, The Henry Ford hosted over 250 makers and close to 20,000 guests during the weekend of the faire alone. Available to both Apple and Android devices, the MFD app provided guests with an up-to-date event schedule, site maps, maker information and answers to logistical FAQs. The app also communicated with 21 Bluetooth beacons placed throughout the faire site to give users location-specific information as to which makers were closest by. I acted as the liaison between The Henry Ford and Lochbridge, a Detroit-based tech company. I ensured all deadlines were met and all app information was accurate. I also wrote brand-aligned copy for each event, maker and "Info" subheading, as well as producing over 30 push notifications that were sent directly to user's phones throughout the faire itself. The app was downloaded nearly 1,000 times between July 25th and 31st, 2016. For more information about the app, please watch my app wrap-up presentation or contact me. |
